Harris Poll 2021 Q4 OOH Study

Billboards are often used for public service announcements as well as for marketing. In the latest Harris Poll, research shows that consumers are interested in and find both uses helpful. With the Covid-19 pandemic billboards were used to show safety and hygiene announcements that were especially useful for the public.

38% of consumers found those Covid related announcements useful, placing it as the second highest rated advertisement. The leading category was special offers and promotions at 42%. A key takeaway from both special offers and awareness being highly rated categories is how effective billboards are at raising awareness. Read more about awareness generated by billboards here.

Not only are billboards effective at spreading your message, but they are useful for consumers. Wether it is finding out about a sale, a new business opening near you or discovering a product that fits your life, billboards work for businesses and consumers alike. By advertising on billboards, you can put your company in front of consumers that would find you useful.

While direction based advertisements were lower on this poll, urban populations found them twice as useful as rural populations. This means that direction based billboards in large urban areas such as Salt Lake City or Austin would be much more useful to those populations, driving more customers to your business.
